While traditional B2B marketing strategies have primarily focused on targeting baby boomers, Generation X, and millennials , a new generation is rapidly emerging as a new force in the B2B sector: GenZ. Born between 1997 and 2012, GenerationZ is the first generation to grow up with technology at its fingertips.

What younger consumers want from brands Depending on your company and industry, appealing to younger consumers doesn’t always mean marketing to GenZ or Gen Alpha. Even legacy brands that once catered to older generations have to pivot and address the younger generations who will eventually age into their target audience.
Salesforce found that consumers are favorable toward AI along generational lines. GenZ is the most receptive, while Boomers and Silent Generation-ers are the most cautious. Thirty-four percent of GenZ consumers said they would share their personal information with an AI agent, 37% are neutral about it.
Gen X leads the way in Facebook usage, followed closely by Boomers and Millennials. That number climbs even higher for GenZ. Those include: YouTube More than three-quarters (78%) of all social users have a YouTube profile, and that number soars even higher for GenZ and Millennials.
Facebook and Instagram are the most effective platforms for community building overall, but TikTok would be best for a GenZ audience. Social media takes the lead for product discovery among GenZ, Millennials, and Gen X, beating out internet search. This also rises to 32% among GenZ.
GenZ is the only generation with a different first preference, which is learning about a product and its features through social media. However, splitting these preferences up by generation paints a different picture. GenZ’s top preference for learning is short-form video, story posts, or from an influencer they follow.
In 2021, more than 82 million Americans listened to podcasts, with millennials and Gen Zs comprising most of the demographic, based on data from Statista. In addition, millennials comprise most listeners of the two youngest generations, with one-third consuming podcasts regularly.
While social media, YouTube ads, unboxing videos, and streaming services are less popular when we look at all generations combined, splitting this up by age group paints a very different picture. GenZ also favors unboxing videos more than any other generation. TV Ads Are Key for Boomers and Gen X.
